As the 83rd Legislative Session approaches, many Texans have been encouraged by Gov. Rick Perry‘s and Speaker Joe Straus‘ initiatives to end the Legislature’s practice of using funds collected for a specific purpose to pay for something else. My office has worked to restore truth in budgeting for years, and we are grateful to see the state’s leadership make this goal a priority.
