Traffic remains a serious problem in Texas

Those of us in the Houston metro area know we spend way too much time stuck in traffic and too much time planning our schedules around traffic.  In 1982, the average Houston-area commuter wasted 22 hours in traffic. In 2011, the average Houston-area commuter wasted 52 hours in traffic congestion, according to a recent Urban Mobility Report by the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University. Congestion like this is not just a big city issue, either. All parts of Texas are impacted with higher costs of goods and services when congestion occurs in our large urban areas.
