Texas is Facing Dramatic Population Growth and an Assault on its Infrastructure

The current drought has depleted our water reserves and damaged the already-stretched infrastructure that moves it.  As a recent Texas Tribune article documented, “in cities like Houston and Fort Worth, clay soil is drying up because of the blistering summer heat, bursting water pipelines, buckling house foundations and splitting asphalt roads.” Moreover, the state’s population grows rapidly year after year, so our already limited water resources will have to meet the needs of more people.
